Aquarena Environmental Learning Center Operated by Texas-State University this attraction sits shoreline on the San Marcos Springs and the Balcone Fault, the fracture in the earth that releases 150-300 million gallons of water a day. The not-for-profit organization protects the endangered species living in the limestone-cleansed spring water and is studying water usage in Texas. Visitors can enjoy glass-bottomed boat rides which allow people to see the springs, including the fault and species that reside there. There are also environmental education tours and an endangered species exhibit.
